Eighth Body - Pranic Body

Updated: Jul 30

In the teachings of Kundalini Yoga, the human being has 10

bodies not 1. Each body has its attributes, and the 8th body is the Pranic Body.

Eighth Body: Pranic Body

Prana, the subtle spark of life energy, is carried on the breath and is our living connection to the Infinite

Qualities: Purity, energy, fearlessness, self-initiation, balance of polarities

Key phrase: “Finite to Infinite”

Mastery: Fearless, fully alive, at one with all creation; unshakeable; vigorously self-motivated to achieve goals; fully integrated female and male aspects of self.

If weak: constant low-level anxiety and fatigue; looks too much to food or stimulants for energy; fearful, defensive, imbalanced, blaming

Key to Balancing the Pranic Body: all pranayama, vigorous exercise, martial arts

A question to ask the Pranic Body?

Will I allow myself to be fearless?

FEELING

In a challenging position, this may manifest as a person who is dealing with power or leadership, whether it be through money, the physical body, or other things. Sometimes they may feel abandoned, fearful, and lonely. They may have a hard time connecting with themselves and integrating their dark side.

They may feel that people see them as having it all, and they may feel suffocated by their demands or expectations which cause anxiety, fatigue, fear, shallow breathing, and low energy.

They want to connect with their source of energy.

In a strength position, this may be manifested as a fearless person, a very energetic person. They experience abundance, and they have developed a strong connection with their inner self. Business can be their arena. They also have a big heart so a healing career can be another avenue for them. They can connect with the infinity source.

Finite to infinity fearless healer, self-initiation, feeling fully alive energetic, has purity and courage, cherish and enjoy all life’s events. Mastery over negative is positive and neutral-minded. They are master planners, very courageous, and full of life force. it's easy for them to multi-task.

The Pranic Body. Prana means “life force”, the energy that comes through the breath.

“Finite vs. Infinite” means that we have a finite life span but we also have infinite amounts of energy available to us. The breath is a source of energy that comes from the universe. Yogi Bhajan calls it “The breath of life” and it is something that comes to you naturally. When we feel a lack of energy, we experience scarcity. That’s when we are afraid or lacking confidence.

When the eighth body is strong, you are fearless and have an amazing ability to live in a world of duality, day and night, light, and dark, cold and hot, feminine and masculine, etc.

Each of the ten bodies relates specifically to the qualities of one of the ten Sikh gurus.

Guru Har Krishan is the eighth Sikh Guru.
