Forth Body - The Neutral Mind

Updated: Apr 1, 2022

In the teachings of Kundalini Yoga, the human being has 10 bodies not 1. Each body has its own attributes, and the 4th body is the neutral mind.

Fourth Body: Neutral (Meditative) Mind

Is seduced by neither the negative nor the positive intellect, and rather dwells in the tranquillity of non-emotional intuition.

Qualities: Service, compassion, integration, balance and wisdom

Key phrase: “Cup of Prayer” – No argument regarding its fullness or emptiness, just an appreciation of the gift of its existence.

Mastery: A calm and clear perception of the essence of any situation; access to the wisdom of the soul by disengaging from intellectual argument, and its associated emotions, through development of the intuition and the meditative mind.

If weak: Feeling victimised and immobilised by contradictory thoughts and emotions, lacking intuition and dwelling in intellectual argument.

Key to Balancing: Learn to meditate and consciously choose to drop argumentative behaviours; replace the habit of intellectual bickering with the calm, clear and confident perception that flows from your deepest meditative experiences

A question to ask your fourth body?

Am I being balanced in my decisions?

Do I allow myself to perceive and act upon inner wisdom?

Each of the ten bodies relate specifically to the qualities of one of the ten Sikh gurus.

Guru Ram Das 4th Sikh Guru

Sing the songs of Guru Ram Das or meditate on Guru Ram Das using the mantra Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru.

FEELING

In a challenge position, this is a person who is overly structured and organised. They are strong and opinionated and may even be perceived as arrogant and stubborn.

It’s very important for a number 4 to do humanitarian or selfless work at some point. because of their true humanitarian nature and it will make them humble.

In a strength position, this is a person who balances the pros and cons in a natural way. They are very humanitarian and service-oriented. They can create internal and external balance.

They can have a hard time making decisions, a hard time being neutral, opinionated, argumentative, have grief, a wavering mind, feeling victimised, caught in the polarity drama of life, unable to receive, easily hurt, co-dependent, overly sensitive, attached, betrayer, judgemental, feelings of sadness.

This is the last step in the thought process, though success cannot be achieved until the last stage of neutrality has been reached. This step gives you all of the true opportunities available to you.

Very humanitarian. “Cup Of Prayer.” The ability to see the glass as half empty or half full, depending on whether it is too protective or too projective.

Meditative mind people are contagious. They put you in that state of mind too. They are also good listeners.

Attitude of gratitude, compassion, integration, service, elevate input of negative and positive minds, receives guidance within 9 seconds, serve others from a place of elevation, see the big picture, integration of all life’s experiences, accept life as you find it without the need to judge, wisdom, joy, forgiveness, love, service, integration between upper and lower chakras balance of the male and female.

The best way to obtain a meditative mind is by meditating.

MANTRA

The mantra “Rakhay Rakhanhar” is an excellent suggestion to strengthen the neutral mind.

Rakhay rakhanhaar aap ubaariun Gur kee pairee paa-eh kaaj savaariun Hoaa aap dayaal manho na visaariun Saadh janaa kai sung bhavjal taariun Saakat nindak dusht khin maa-eh bidaariun Tis saahib kee tayk naanak manai maa-eh Jis simrat sukh ho-eh saglay dookh jaa-eh

These are the words of Guru Arjan, the 5th Sikh Guru, and they are for complete protection. It is from the evening prayer (Rehraas), which adds energy to one’s being and helps when you are physically weak or have limited wealth. It is a sweet victory song which allows us to be guided by God’s graceful and merciful hand. It does away with the obstacles to fulfilling one’s destiny.

Here are some examples of Exercises to connect to the Neutral Mind.

Leg stretch. Straighten the left leg in front of you and lean over it. Long deep breathing for 1 minute. Switch legs and perform for another minute.

Butterfly/ Spine flex. Come into butterfly pose. Bring the soles of your feet together and inhale while bending forward then exhale while bending back. 1 minute.

Torso twist. In easy pose or resting on the heels, place the hands on the shoulders with the thumbs back and the fingers facing forward. Inhale and twist left, exhale and twist right. 1 minute.

Shoulder Rolls. Inhale and roll the shoulders back. 1 minute.

Head Rolls. Roll the head in one direction 3 times slowly, then change direction.
